Efficiently test fiber connections and eliminate %22dead zones%22 with the Fiber Plus series 5 DZE? OTDR launch cables. A dead zone is a blind spot formed due to the strong light that leaves the OTDR, making it difficult for you to see the underlying cause of attenuation in your fiber optic cables. The launch box is placed between the OTDR test equipment and the line under test and displays results, including the first connector after the dead zone occurs.
The fiber launch cable for OTDR works with an optical time-domain reflectometer used for the testing of fiber optic cables, equipment calibration, and system emulation of length, time, loss, delay, and reflectance. This single mode launch fiber cable easily measures the relative loss at the near end and the far end of the patch panel connections.
Also known as OTDR launch boxes, launch cords, launch leads, or pulse suppressor, receive cables or fiber rings, the fiber launch cables aid in minimizing the effects of the OTDR's launch pulse on measurement uncertainty. A fiber ring offers the functionality of both a launch cable and a receive cable in order to effectively identify the insertion loss and reflectance of the link under test.
The launch cable is available in various custom length configurations. The shorter 150-meter lengths are best suited for premises network test applications, while the single mode launch cables of 500 meters and 1000 meters are perfect for broadband and long-haul fiber network test applications. Fiber Plus launch cables come in lengths of up to 5 km, based on your needs, and can be carried easily in a compact, rugged, launch cable carry case.
